New monsters are being born [knit] but real signs of spring are few up here. We had just enough [which means maybe two] days of 60 degree weather to tease us and the groundhog even said spring would arrive early if you believe that kind of stuff. But here we are with 30 degree days and snow still on the ground. Boo. Blah. Ick. I went outside today for a moment with my camera and took a few pictures. Don't let the sunshine fool you, it was pretty cold. I've had enough of winter boots. Since the calendar says it's spring, I'm wearing my rubber boots with whales on them because they're a bit more cheerful than my brown Columbia snow boots. Someone with huge feet must have been over. Well... I guess a positive is that it is sunny enough so that the snow is melting a bit. It's supposed to be in the 40s later this week... and rain. By then the snow will be all gone [let's hope for the season!] I checked out the garden to see if anything was poking out of the ground. I saw some friends post pictures of crocuses... Not so much here... Oh well. Enough about that. Once May hits, this area is honestly the prettiest place on the planet. Also, this weekend is the first reHatched Artist Showcase of the season in Rochester, NY. I posted information about that in the EVENTS tab. Erinmakesstuff will be showing off and selling some new creatures. Come check it out if you can! A ticket includes a glass of wine and free admission to any of the other reHatched events :)
Yarn mess! Just kidding... I have it all under control. But just a minute ago I was working on 7 needles... scarrrrryyyyy!
EDIT: He's done! Cthulhu... this guy is a commissioned order... and actually a baby shower present. I don't question. This guy was fun to knit and looks even better in person! He even has little wings. Here are some other monsters that I've finished recently... notice I've been going a bit crazy with the fun fur yarns.
This funny little guy found a new home yesterday... I thought this picture was too cute not to post.
Hello everyone. It's a cold, windy day here in Buffalo...sometimes raining, sometimes snowing... so it's fitting that today I finished up some custom made monster hats. These hats are for some awesome customers at last week's Gotta Have Art Festival in Clarence. Here's what I came up with for Erich and Erin. Erich is getting a matching monster ornament too :) [Click HERE for the other hats I've made.] Monster hats are awesome gifts... even though winter is [hopefully] almost over. If you'd like one, contact me! I'd love to make you one! They're so much fun!
A huge THANK YOU!!! to everyone who came out to the "Gotta Have Art" Festival in Clarence yesterday. I had a lot of fun meeting lots of great artists and customers... and have enough to keep me busy the next couple weeks knitting some terrific hats :) There were a lot of great artists at the show, but I was super impressed by Elizabeth Strong's Lizard Breath Beads. I loved them! Each piece of jewelry is so colorful and cool. She also has an etsy shop so you can buy some of her fabulous pieces! Here's an idea of what her hand made lampwork beads look like: And here are some pictures of the table full of monsters I had yesterday... Including Andrea's kitty ball monsters! Enjoy!
This Saturday!
