For Week 1, I drew a picture of my little cousin Annie... which I decided to do because she is so funny and loveable and because it was her mom's birthday and drawings are thoughtful gifts!
I've followed some impressive 365 projects on flickr. I've even had friends start their own and I admire them for their ability to do that. Me? Mmmm... I work a bit on the slower side so I'm going to do the next best thing: a 52 project. Each week I MUST complete at least one drawing and write a post on here about it. All posts will be on Wednesday. You can help me out too by commissioning work! Either contact me through my facebook page or through email [email addy is under the CONTACT tab] and we can work out the details. I love doing portraits! For Week 1, I drew a picture of my little cousin Annie... which I decided to do because she is so funny and loveable and because it was her mom's birthday and drawings are thoughtful gifts! This drawing was done on a 9 x 12" piece of Bristol board using colored pencil and a little bit of watercolor. I let Annie hold it and she said "BABY!" and then proceeded to stick her tounge out at the drawing. She makes me laugh... and she's a big monster fan too!

Past two days? Great stuff: Beach, new camera, Zumba, summer job stuff and Shakespeare in the Park. I even had time for a little knitting AND I finished a drawing [which I'll talk about in the NEXT POST.] But, I don't want to skip over the BEST NEWS IN A LONG TIME... I got a new camera! Yay! I ended up getting a Nikon D3100 [thanks for all the other suggestions guys! I considered them all but in the end picked what seemed easiest to use and best for my budget] and so far I love it. The quality of images on this site will improve immensely with my new 14.2 megapixel powerhouse. OH, and it takes pretty nice HD video too, which I was tempted to do when I saw one of the torches getting a bit out of control on stage during a pivitol scene in The Merchant of Venice, dripping burning stuff right on the wooden stage until one of the actors put out the torch and stomped out the flames. Enough about that. You come here to see pictures and here are some new ones! Enjoy! New little Baby Squidleys! The top circle of monster cuteness was born a couple weeks ago and the bottom little guys are newborns waiting to open their eyes and get some teeth. Some of the little ones are even furry! All will be available for sale at this weekend's show at Filigrees on Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. [See the EVENTS tab for details] Besides the adorability factor, Baby Squidleys come with attatched cords making them perfect for hanging anywhere you like... including your ears... I suppose. It was a PERFECT, beautiful summer night for Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Before the stage almost burnt down during the second half [ok... that is a huge exaggeration...] I knit this little monster head ornament.
New show added under the events tab! July 1-2 at Filigrees on Elmwood Avenue in Buffalo! I'll be there from 4-dusk on Friday and noon-dusk on Saturday. Hopefully the weather is nice so I can set up outside! I love Elmwood Ave!
Here's the facebook event page! Coup de Craft @ Filigrees Gallery & Boutique I spent my rainy, stormy Saturday morning finishing up more of these crazy little ornament monsters. A few will be up on etsy tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled for that!
But for now, TO THE TREES! Although I haven't been posting, I've still been making! I wanted to show you the Baby Squidley Ornaments that I've recently designed. I made the first one before Christmas but haven't posted a picture because it was a gift... and, to be honest, everytime I see the gift recipient I forget to bring the gift and it hasn't actually been given. Yes, it's June. I know, I know. But I've made a few since then and wanted to show you all them because they're super cute. They're small enough to hold in your hand with same adorability level as one of their bigger Monstapi brothers. For the purposes of scale, here they are attacking my grandma. Out of curiousity, I lined up all the monsters I have available on the couch. I have more than I thought! Hopefully the summer shows I've applied to accept me soon!
