So, for all y'all that aren't instagramming, here's some of my little sneak peeks of the project. And if you are on instagram and not following me, let's change that! I'm @erinmakesstuff !
For anyone that follows me on instagram, you've probably figured out that there is a cool project in the works! It involves yarn and my favorite alma mater. It's going to involve monsters too. All will be unveiled March 2nd! Since I've directed a lot of my creativity toward this project, the monster making has been slow. But good news, I've applied to some shows and will share where and when they are as soon as I get word that I'm accepted. So, for all y'all that aren't instagramming, here's some of my little sneak peeks of the project. And if you are on instagram and not following me, let's change that! I'm @erinmakesstuff ! PS. Look who finally learned how to crochet?!

My holiday shows for the season are over so now I can focus on custom orders! Yay! So... if you missed my shows, I updated my etsy shop! Feel free to browse by clicking on the SHOP tab above or head right over to the etsy page to see what's in stock! http://www.etsy.com/shop/erinmakesstuff. There's lots of monsters waiting for you!
I've been playing around with the idea of making mini knit animal monsters. So far I've come up with foxes and a walrus. I'll be adding them to my etsy site tonight so you can order one of your own! Wouldn't these look so fun on your tree?
Thanks to everyone who stopped by my booth at the Buffalo's 10th Annual Music is Art festival yesterday! It was a nice, cool almost autumn day. With so much to see and do, I'm glad so many monsters were able to find good homes. I tried to keep busy knitting because next Saturday I'm back at the waterfront for another Saturday Artisan Market. So much to do! And knitting takes time!
I haven't knit a Monstapus in awhile. To remedy that, I knit three! All of them are staring at me and they are all adorable. Too cute, really. But I'm their mom and my judgement may be a little biased.
All three Monstapi will be available to purchase at my next show on September 8th at the Buffalo Central Wharf. It goes 10-5! Now... What else should I make this week? I always welcome custom orders! If you see anything you like feel free to email me. I can make you any monster your heart desires. This guy belongs to Kenzie and will be in the mail tomorrow! Just wait to you all see what I'm working on for Margaret!
What a beautiful day at the waterfront! Thanks to everyone who came out to the Saturday Artisan Market today. And hello to any new fans that I met today! See you again September 8th!
One: We will be back at the waterfront this Saturday from 10-5 as part of the Buffalo Artisan Market. Last week was cancelled because of high winds, but this week should be nicer. Right now the forecast is low 70s, mostly sunny and a light breeze. Sounds good to me! Come on down!
Two: I've been teaching some summer camps and this week we've done a lot of weaving. The kids LOVE it. We got funky and have been trying radial weaving which just means knitting around and around in a circle. I thought they looked lovely in the center of my freshly picked sunflowers. Three: I'm getting together my fall/holiday schedule for shows. Stay tuned! Four: The monsters love you. <3 I just finished another custom pet drawing. I'm super happy with how this drawing turned out. It's already framed up and looks really polished. I can't wait to deliver it!
If you like it and are interested, I'd be happy to draw your pet too. Information is on the PORTRAIT INFO tab up top. Today I finally picked my knitting needles up after taking a break to teach art to some awesome kids at Fine Arts Camp! I definitely have a lot of knitting to do in the next week to catch up. The next show is August 11th at the Buffalo Waterfront so that gives me a week to restock! Work work work.
I wanted to share some sketches that I did of camper's pets. I let them bring in pictures of their dogs and did quick drawings of their animals. They were fun to do... even if I was working in Crayola colored pencils instead of my usual Prismacolors and Faber Castel artist pens. The campers made awesome artwork too! I am super proud of them and already looking forward to next summer. Fine Arts Camp is definitely a fun two weeks for both th When doing outdoor shows, my hand painted banner seems a bit small. To solve that problem, I ordered a BIG (actually HUGE) new banner. Eight feet long! Two and a half feet tall! It'll sure make a colorful impression in my otherwise very plain white tent! Here's the old banner for comparison. I'm still going to use it for indoor shows and the front of the tent. The new banner still needs grommets for hanging. In case you wondered, the new banner was ordered from vistaprint and I designed it myself!
Thanks again to everyone who came out to the waterfront today! Many monsters found new homes. This is great news for me because now I have a reason to make more. I'd make more anyway, but it's fun to see people fall in love with their monster friend and take one home.
Here's a shot of the monsters. Yep, they were on TV again tonight! And yes, I'm dorky enough to sit there with my camera to take a picture of them! The next show is August 11th. Same time. Same place. Come on down. Since the first market two weeks ago, I've been knitting up a storm! The result is 10 new monsters [8 of which have felt and locking safety eyes instead of buttons!] and 10 new ornaments. I also got new cards printed and they are super fun. Just like before, the cards are blank inside. They're super cute. Cards are $4 each or 3/$10. Here's a preview of some of the new monsters... and there are more pictures that I posted on the facebook page.
Another note, do any of you guys instagram? I've been posting some pictures to that little app recently and welcome you to follow me on there. My username? You guessed it! erinmakesstuff! I thought yesterday was pretty productive. Not only did I finish knitting the bodies for three small round guys, but I also finished up this drawing of Cody, the large furry friend of Emily at merrypad.com.
Mostly I put up monsters here in the bloggy part of the site, but I also wanted to let you know that I love doing custom portraits of people and animals. I updated the "PORTRAIT INFO" tab up top to include examples of my work and pricing. Here's Cody! |
