Here's the latest custom order! A monster walrus! I was super excited to make this guy... and he's so hilarious looking! Enjoy! I also finished a monstapus today. The walrus monster and monstapus became friends quite quickly!
Here are fun things that people have ordered from my etsy store! [And you can order these things too! Links are below the picture.] I also do custom orders so if you can dream it, I can probably make it. Looks like this week I may be making a walrus monster! I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together. Anyway... Fox Scarf [also available: Possum Scarf] Monster Face Hat
Just to let you know, I probably won't be adding any already made monsters on etsy for awhile. I'm trying to stock up on monsters and monster ornaments for the shows the weekend of Dec. 10th. So if you need stuff, find me! I'll be in Buffalo and Utica. And, as always, my stuff can be found at Thin Ice on Elmwood [Buffalo] and Arena's on East Ave. [Rochester]. Check the "WHERE TO BUY" tab up top for more info! Custom orders are also welcome. Email me for more info! I've had the idea of little knitted woodland animals in my head for awhile now and finally decided to make one! I think he turned out great... not completely fox-like, but cute nonetheless. Annie and I even had a fun little excursion to the beach to find the driftwood. She pointed out all the sticks. She likes sticks, I guess. I don't think I'll be stocking this type of item for shows this season, but I'd love to make more as custom orders! I really want to try making a skunk... what do you all think?
Here's something a little different for you all: Monsters with an emblem stitched on the belly! It's a bit Care Bear, but I like it :) The Fredonia Fire Dept. logo was from an old t-shirt! Have an old t-shirt? Like the logo but the shirt is a bit "ehhh?" Well... maybe it needs to move to a monster's belly instead!
Getting married? Here's an idea for something really unique and extra special for your ringbearer to carry! Ringmonsters are custom knit in the colors of your wedding! [$40] Email me or use the "Request custom item" link on the left side of my etsy shop to order. UPDATE 10/3/11 The ring bearer monster was a big hit at Ashley + Mike's Wedding. The chorus of "awwww" was a pretty strong indicator that everyone loved the quirky wedding band presentation! ...and guess who caught the bouquet?
In a previous post I super excitedly mentioned that I am swapping with Mereware. She's getting a monster face hat and I'm getting some of her robot pottery! I was so excited that I started knitting the hat as soon as she agreed to trade! These hats are not a quick knit. First I have to knit the hat to the brim, then I have to knit both earflaps separately, then attach the earflaps, then knit and attach the horns, then sew in the lining, teeth and sew on the buttons... in other words, time consuming work! So imagine how dumb I felt when I went to attach the earflaps and realized that I knit the wrong sized hat... I knit a kid's size rather than adult. Oops. So I started knitting again... and working to knit up a whole new hat. The above picture is the smaller sized hat. It's a bit tight on my head but still looks cute... but I'm not about to give someone a hat that doesn't fit because that would just be stupid. Below is the second hat, the hat for Mereware! The first hat I'll probably put up on etsy next week. I need to list those yetis too [four more yetis are about to be born!] I'll let you know as soon as that all happens. For now, if you'd like your own custom hat order one HERE!
Cthulhu... this guy is a commissioned order... and actually a baby shower present. I don't question. This guy was fun to knit and looks even better in person! He even has little wings. Here are some other monsters that I've finished recently... notice I've been going a bit crazy with the fun fur yarns.
Hello everyone. It's a cold, windy day here in Buffalo...sometimes raining, sometimes snowing... so it's fitting that today I finished up some custom made monster hats. These hats are for some awesome customers at last week's Gotta Have Art Festival in Clarence. Here's what I came up with for Erich and Erin. Erich is getting a matching monster ornament too :) [Click HERE for the other hats I've made.] Monster hats are awesome gifts... even though winter is [hopefully] almost over. If you'd like one, contact me! I'd love to make you one! They're so much fun!
My brother is in a band called The Devil in Love and they're working on creating a CD of their songs. I drew this for them to use as their cover. If you click the picture you can go to their youtube and watch their vlog. Josh and Tom are wearing hats I knit in the video. I like how the illustration turned out... you can make your own judgements about the music.
Also, that contest that I mentioned in the last post is ongoing... so... do it! Remember though, you have to post on the erinmakesstuff wall that you did it because I may not see it if we're not "friends." Take it easy. Heyyy everyone. Hope you're all having a great holiday season. Currently the snow is blowing around outside. I'm warm inside working on my monster that I'm making for the Vanna's Choice Contest [but more about that some other time.] I just wanted to post a picture of some monsters that I made to "resemble" my friend Sue's pets. They were a surprise gift from her husband and I think they turned out hilarious looking! Also, I was able to make another roadkill possum scarf... check it out! Enjoy the rest of 2010! I'll be working up some new things... I think it's time to shake up my monster designs a little bit and try something new.
In the past week I've had quite a few orders for custom knit Monstapi... all of which needed the more kid-friendly felt/locking safety eye version instead of buttons. I've finished two so far and there is still another that is in progress. They turned out so bright and colorful!
And here are some pictures from the small craft show I did last weekend: |
