Another note, do any of you guys instagram? I've been posting some pictures to that little app recently and welcome you to follow me on there. My username? You guessed it! erinmakesstuff!
Since the first market two weeks ago, I've been knitting up a storm! The result is 10 new monsters [8 of which have felt and locking safety eyes instead of buttons!] and 10 new ornaments. I also got new cards printed and they are super fun. Just like before, the cards are blank inside. They're super cute. Cards are $4 each or 3/$10. Here's a preview of some of the new monsters... and there are more pictures that I posted on the facebook page.

This guy is pretty popular. Not only did he sell at Mayday this past weekend, but now I'm making his twin and "mini me" yeti ornament version. I'm going to try to get some stuff listed on my etsy shop this week and Friday I am bringing a bunch of new monsters to Thin Ice in Buffalo!
Here is me with my table! My table set up is always a work in progress. Don't forget, I'm always willing to make a custom, extra special monster for you! All you have to do is ask!
Also, I have a few shows coming up at the end of the month. Here's some information and the rest of the details are under the WHERE TO BUY tab up top. In case you missed it, I put some new monsters up in my etsy shop. Meet them here. If you click the picture it should link you to where you can buy them. Every monster deserves a good home! Merry Christmas everyone :)
Here's the latest custom order! A monster walrus! I was super excited to make this guy... and he's so hilarious looking! Enjoy! I also finished a monstapus today. The walrus monster and monstapus became friends quite quickly!
Well, hi! That was one crazy weekend! Erinmakesstuff managed to be in two places at once! Let me start off with a huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support the UUCB Holiday Show in Buffalo and the Indie Garage Sale in Utica. SO MANY monsters found homes. There is hardly anything left in the bin! I would definitely do both shows again... but hopefully they don't happen on the same day next year! That was a wee bit STRESSFUL! Sitting at these shows reminds me why I make these guys. Sometimes when I'm working I think, "What am I doing?!" Knitting is super time consuming and I'm probably crazy for picking that technique. But watching the "journey of emotions" on customers faces is priceless. [My friend Allison said that yesterday and I liked it.] It's rare for someone to not crack a smile, even if at first glance they seem puzzled. And that's all these monsters need to do: make you smile. Cheer you up. Laugh. Enjoy. They are as warm and cozy as your favorite sweater and each has a personality all their own. What more do you need? [See that possum scarf? It found a home too! As did the big monstapus. Many customers returned Sunday to get even more monsters!] To sweeten what was already an awesome weekend, I learned something else! The Utica O-D newspaper used pictures of my monsters with their article to advertise the Indie Garage Sale! On Saturday customers were passing by and kept commenting that they saw my stuff in the paper... and I had no idea what they were talking about. Fortunately my friend [and wonderful host! Thanks again Susan!] was able to dig through her parents recycle bin Sunday morning and find me a copy! Monsters were pictured on BOTH the cover and inside the Thursday weekend section! How cool is that! Pictured in the paper in two cities for two different shows within two months! [And both times I had no idea!] At least this time I managed to get a copy of the paper! To end this post, THANK YOU to the wonderful people at the UUCB in Buffalo. I'm sad I couldn't be there in person this time. Everyone who went said it was fantastic so congrats on a job well done!
I'm a few days late [I've been busy!] but I wanted to say thank you to everyone who came to support erinmakesstuff at Buffalo Women's Gifts this past weekend. It was an AWESOME show. I loved it last year and was excited to be accepted back. This year was even better than last. So many monsters found homes and I pretty much sold out of ornaments! Here are some pictures of what was there. There are two shows left this season: The annual UUCB Holiday Show in Buffalo, NY on Dec. 10 and the Indie Garage Sale in Utica, NY Dec. 10-11. I need to get knitting!
Hi everyone! I just got back from an awesome show [Mayday Underground Arts + Crafts Show] at the Main Street Armory in Rochester! It was really fun introducing my monsters to another city and finding new fans. A big thank you to the lovely ladies who organized the show [I'll definitely be applying again for the spring!] And you know what else is cool? My monsters were pictured in City Newspaper! Here's a screenshot of their website. So what's next? Next Sunday is the Art Garage Sale at Lovin' Cup in Henrietta, NY. The weekend after that is one of my FAVORITE shows: Women's Gifts! Check the "Where to Buy" tab at the top of this page for more details on those two shows... and all upcoming events. Thanks for stopping by!
Here's something a little different for you all: Monsters with an emblem stitched on the belly! It's a bit Care Bear, but I like it :) The Fredonia Fire Dept. logo was from an old t-shirt! Have an old t-shirt? Like the logo but the shirt is a bit "ehhh?" Well... maybe it needs to move to a monster's belly instead!
Past two days? Great stuff: Beach, new camera, Zumba, summer job stuff and Shakespeare in the Park. I even had time for a little knitting AND I finished a drawing [which I'll talk about in the NEXT POST.] But, I don't want to skip over the BEST NEWS IN A LONG TIME... I got a new camera! Yay! I ended up getting a Nikon D3100 [thanks for all the other suggestions guys! I considered them all but in the end picked what seemed easiest to use and best for my budget] and so far I love it. The quality of images on this site will improve immensely with my new 14.2 megapixel powerhouse. OH, and it takes pretty nice HD video too, which I was tempted to do when I saw one of the torches getting a bit out of control on stage during a pivitol scene in The Merchant of Venice, dripping burning stuff right on the wooden stage until one of the actors put out the torch and stomped out the flames. Enough about that. You come here to see pictures and here are some new ones! Enjoy! New little Baby Squidleys! The top circle of monster cuteness was born a couple weeks ago and the bottom little guys are newborns waiting to open their eyes and get some teeth. Some of the little ones are even furry! All will be available for sale at this weekend's show at Filigrees on Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. [See the EVENTS tab for details] Besides the adorability factor, Baby Squidleys come with attatched cords making them perfect for hanging anywhere you like... including your ears... I suppose. It was a PERFECT, beautiful summer night for Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Before the stage almost burnt down during the second half [ok... that is a huge exaggeration...] I knit this little monster head ornament.
I spent my rainy, stormy Saturday morning finishing up more of these crazy little ornament monsters. A few will be up on etsy tomorrow so keep your eyes peeled for that!
But for now, TO THE TREES! Although I haven't been posting, I've still been making! I wanted to show you the Baby Squidley Ornaments that I've recently designed. I made the first one before Christmas but haven't posted a picture because it was a gift... and, to be honest, everytime I see the gift recipient I forget to bring the gift and it hasn't actually been given. Yes, it's June. I know, I know. But I've made a few since then and wanted to show you all them because they're super cute. They're small enough to hold in your hand with same adorability level as one of their bigger Monstapi brothers. For the purposes of scale, here they are attacking my grandma. Out of curiousity, I lined up all the monsters I have available on the couch. I have more than I thought! Hopefully the summer shows I've applied to accept me soon!
